“Our people matter,” and that has never been truer than it is now,” said Dakona Smith, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Walmart U.S., in a statement posted on the retailer’s website. “Closing our stores on Thanksgiving is one way to say thank you to our teams for their dedication and hard work.”
However, Walmart will help you if you need anything the day before – stores will be open at regular hours on Wednesday. In most places, this time is from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, but you can always check the online store search tool for a few hours at your particular store. Walmart has also begun offering discounts on popular gift categories ahead of Black Friday. This means you can spread out your holiday shopping this year!
